If there’s one gift I could give you, it would be the gift of becoming unstoppable. But you don’t need to be gifted. It’s an attitude, an acquirable mindset.

Too many dreams are lost without it.

Businesses that could’ve succeeded, marriages that could’ve been inspiring love stories and so many more human accomplishments could’ve been achieved if only more people had an unstoppable mindset.

Well, what if there was a formula to becoming unstoppable? Like ingredients to create a great meal? Would you believe me? Would you go for it?

I’m going to try and sell you on this throughout this article so you too can reap the rewards.

If this is important for you, then read along.

Here are 26 tips on how to become unstoppable!

1. Get serious about life

If you’re not willing to be serious about life, let me save you some time and tell you up front that this article isn’t for you.

Getting serious about life doesn’t mean that you have to be uptight. It doesn’t mean that life has to be boring.

It means that you’re serious about winning and becoming successful in whatever your heart desires.

It means that you’re serious about living the way that you want to live and giving your family the freedoms that will help you all enjoy life to the fullest.

So, let’s get serious. You need a dream. You need a vision. You need a plan. You need goals. You need to become mentally tough. You need to become more emotionally intelligent. You need to BECOME UNSTOPPABLE.

2. Be the hardest worker in the room:

The person who works the hardest can also become the smartest, and go the farthest.

Learning new things is hard work. Taking action and getting things done is hard work.

One of my goals growing up was to be an extremely hard worker. My mentors worked really hard and they inspired me. A work ethic that surpasses everyone’s work ethic around you will automatically put you in the fast lane to success.

And guess what? It’s not that difficult. After working with over 2,500 people directly in my career, I realized that most people fail because they are lazy.

A lot of the times there are underlying issues, one of them being the fear of failure, so they don’t even try.

So, if you have the courage to work hard, then you’re on the right track.

3. Start thinking big

“Most people fail in life not because they aim too high and miss, but because they aim too low and HIT”. – Les brown

“Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss, you’ll land among the stars”. – Norman Vincent Peale.

“Shoot for the stars, you’ll at least hit the moon”. – T. Harv Eker

Think big. If you’re already thinking and using your brain anyway, you should think bigger.

Many people say things like “I don’t need too much”, “I’m happy with the way things are”. So, they don’t think big.

Many times, these are not well thought through replies. In fact, it’s a lazy mindset. And usually these people live in lack.

One of my mentors said this and it blew my mind. He said “if you’re broke, you’re selfish”. I would like to extend that to if you are unsuccessful, you are selfish.

You might not like hearing this, but I’m not here to tickle your ears.

Don’t give up on me yet though! Keep following my point.

If you’re unsuccessful, who’s living in lack because of that?

Are you married?

Do you have a partner?

Do you have children?

Do you have great friends?

How many of them would be blessed if you were successful?

Instead, many of us get so consumed in our own feelings and emotions that hold us down. We would rather not face the prospect of failure because WE fear it.

What about your children? And your most loved ones?

You see, if you thought outside the box, you would change your perspective here.

People need you.

Think bigger. Build a bigger life. Build a bigger business. Build a bigger investment portfolio. Nurture a bigger heart. Get fitter. Do whatever your heart would desire, find your purpose, and make an impact while you’re here.

You can’t give if you don’t have anything to give. Fill your cup and pour it into others.

You aren’t here by accident. The uphill battle that you had to go through to develop in your mother’s womb was nothing short of miraculous, and that alone proves that you had a special place in this world.

Read the books, listen to the motivational speeches, do the courses, and take massive action UNTIL you stretch your belief system, raise your level of thinking and ultimately become a success.

4. Practice becoming disciplined

You can have every skill under the Sun, but if you don’t have discipline then I already know you’re operating BELOW 10% of your potential.

Discipline is the bridge. Disciple is your foundation. Discipline is what will make you do what you don’t want to do, but have to do.

We often fail because we neglect doing the important things.

As Brian Tracy says “eat that frog”. You have to eat the frog so that you can live your best life.

Discipline yourself so that you can do the hard things.

“Do what is easy, and your life will be hard. Do what is hard and your life will become easy”. – Les Brown

A great way to do this is to start making a daily to do list of result driven actions, and complete them daily until you develop the habit and muscle to keep doing it.

It can be a good idea to halve your to-do list in the beginning because it takes away procrastination.

Another important point to remember is that you shouldn’t wait for the “feeling” of excitement to work, but rather do the work and that will bring the feeling of excitement after you push yourself into a state of flow.

You can also look up the 5 second rule by Mel Robbins to help you get into action fast.

Read discipline books, take discipline courses, write discipline affirmations, listen to discipline self-talk on YouTube, talk to yourself and affirm that you are self-disciplined.

Another thing you can do is get into a good gym/exercise routine. My favourite one for this area would be martial arts. I trained martial arts for a couple of years and it was one of the most helpful discipline shifts in my life.

It helped me to not give up easily. It proved to me that our minds and bodies are much stronger than we might think.

Here’s the truth. If you really want to do this, you will find a way. If not, you will find an excuse.

As Jim Rohn says, “Success is nothing more than a few simple disciplines, practiced each day”.

Don’t overcomplicate success. A lot of it is just mastering the psychology of getting into action.

5. Develop real commitment

I’ve been married for just over 7 years. On my wedding day, imagine if when the priest asked me if I was committed to my wife, I said “I am 99% committed”.

Firstly, I would have been hit with a few knuckles quite fast!

Secondly, my marriage wouldn’t have ever been a success.

You can’t win when you’re not 100% committed. And that applies to anything significant that you want to accomplish.

It’s either you’re all in, or you might as well be all out.

Many of us are very good at being committed for about a week. This is a huge problem. We either overcommit and spread ourselves too thin and can’t keep up, or we allow the bully in our head to make us quit, or we are just programmed to not respect what a real commitment should be.

Here’s something for you. Learn how to say NO much more often. You need to guard your time. We only have so much energy to pursue our goals and dreams, and with family and social commitments, we need to be careful what we say yes to.

Next, if you say yes to something, see it through.

An old mentor of mine explained commitment like this. He said “commitment is doing the thing that you said you would do long after the MOOD that you said it in has left you”. In other words, you can’t change your commitments just based off how you feel at the time.

You need to do the thing that you said you would do, and that itself gives you power.

6. Be consistent

Consistency is so important for anything to really take off.

People have become extremely impatient. The world we are living in is a fast-paced world, and we want 2-minute noodles in a minute and 30 seconds.

Popcorn requires around 2 minutes and 30 seconds to pop. Imagine putting the popcorn in for 30 seconds, then taking it out, checking, and putting it back in for another 30 seconds. Even if you repeated that 5 times to equate to 2 minutes and 30 seconds, they won’t pop. At least not the same way.

You need to stay consistent on tasks long enough for anything to pop. This allows for compounding to take place.

7. Be persistent

Being persistent means that you don’t give up easily. You are stubborn and you won’t give in to the challenges that you’re facing.

No matter how many times Murphy’s law kicks in, you keep on showing up and you keep on working hard.

Some persistence can come across as annoying, so make sure that you are persistent with class. In sales for example, you never want to give up after the first call. If there’s room to call them back, then call them back in a few months.

Just doing the action of following up for the second time separates you from the majority of people.

8. Develop the skill of focus and flow

If you asked super successful people which one of their top skills would’ve helped them achieve their high level of success, I can guarantee you that FOCUS would have been one of them.

Focus can stand for: Follow – One – Course – Until – Successful.

Focus can help you get what most people would get done in a year, in a month.

Flow on the other hand helps you enter a state where challenging work becomes easy because you’re skilled enough to fly through it. It helps you generate high energy and it’s fun. You get so much done when you enter a state of flow.

I ran sales teams for years and I used to encourage my team to get into a state of flow. I made jokes and suggested that they work and concentrate long enough until they enter flow, and when they do they would have the guts to call the president of Zimbabwe! It’s true, it builds up your confidence and courage.

Studies say that it takes approximately 11 minutes to enter a state of flow, and 1 second to break it.

When my team worked with me and I would be making phone calls or contacting people, they had to wait for me to finish those tasks before having access to speak with me. I didn’t want anything to disturb my state of flow.

If you want to become a high achiever, you should work on your focus and let your focus take you into a flow state.

9. Develop a sense of urgency

Unstoppable people operate with a strong sense of urgency. They can be patient in terms of achieving their big goals and dreams, but they take immediate action with the smaller bite size tasks needed to accomplish the bigger goals.

They overcome procrastination. They develop a bias for action. They achieve clarity by setting clear goals, and then they go after them.

Urgency is necessary for every person wanting to become unstoppable.

10. Develop systems and rituals

I used to work extremely hard with sheer will power. I would get a lot done, but the consequence of that constant use of will power would burn me out.

It’s ironic because I was getting a lot done, and then I would get set back because of the burnout.

One day, I was listening to Tony Robbins while I was at the gym and he said “willpower doesn’t last, rituals do”. Boom! It clicked for me. I realized I needed to develop the right systems and rituals in my life so that I wouldn’t have to use my conscious mind as much anymore.

Having clear systems in your life will take away a lot of your mental effort. It helps you win LONG term.

What do you do first thing in the morning?

What is your system for work?

What is your system for Personal Growth?

What is your system for health?

What is your system for your family?

Everything needs a system IF you want to get the most out of your life.

Even your down time can be systemized.

For example, you cannot reach me on Saturday’s. Saturday is the day that my kids are our central focus. I switch off my phones and leave them upstairs. I spend complete quality time with my family. This helps me with my mental health. It also rejuvenates my whole family and it’s a power packed day full of activities and adventure.

Sunday includes reviewing the previous week, planning the next week, delegating work to all my employees and the rest of the Sunday is for my family.

11. Exercise frequently

Frequent exercise helps not only your body but also your brain.

We focus better when we exercise.

Exercise also helps with Neuroplasticity, your brains ability to adapt, change and wire itself through new learnings.

When you feel fatigued and you get some exercise, that itself could get you back in the zone.

The benefits of exercise are endless.

12. Change your posture and develop a “confident” walk

When you change your posture, you’re triggering your nervous system to send different messages to your brain.

If you have slouched shoulders and you have your head down, the signal that your brain is receiving is that “she/he is sad, timid, uncertain and lacks confidence”.

When you have expansive posture, the message your brain is receiving is “he/she is confident, open and ready to take on the world”.

These subtle changes in the form of your body make a huge different.

The way you walk also does the same thing.

Study expansive and confident body language, replicate it in yourself for a week and watch the difference.

If you try this, comment in the comment section and let me know how you felt!

13. Practice a form of martial arts (even for a year)

I trained martial arts for a few years and I can tell you that it develops assurance and confidence. Beyond just the discipline and the mindset that martial arts can bring, just knowing you can defend yourself and your family brings a new energy into your life.

Even if you did this for a year, this would make a huge difference.

Consider this a form of exercise and an increase in your mental health but the truth is that there are many more benefits that come with it.

14. Develop your own philosophy

The word philosophy is a combination of 2 words in the Greek language, which literally means “love of wisdom”.

It’s important to have your own points of view.

Ask questions, and get answers. Build your knowledge base and carefully structure your belief system.

The way to do this is to read, listen to audiobooks, apply your knowledge in the real world, review your results and continuously seek improvement.

“Ask and you shall receive. Seek and ye shall find. Knock and it will be opened to you”.

Having your own philosophy happens when you seek to understand fundamental truths about yourself, the world you live in, your place in the world, and your relationships with others.

Philosophy is the development of wisdom.

15. Take responsibility

Before you change your life, you need to realize that you are where you are because of the decisions that you have been making up until today.

Even if you had unfortunate situations, you still have to take responsibility and keep the power in your hands for any change to happen.

Your best thinking got you to where you are at today. You need a new level of thinking to take you to new places. Take responsibility and take back your power.

16. Do some Personal Development daily

Personal development is not a one-time occasion. It takes consistency to experience true results.

Albert Einstein stated that “compound interest is the 8th wonder of the world. Those who know it, make it. And those who don’t, pay it”.

I believe the same is true for people who do personal development daily. They reap the rewards in such a profound way. This doesn’t just impact them financially, but also mentally, emotionally, spiritually, socially and physically.

The people who don’t have a growth plan usually suffer the consequences in one way or another.

17. Focus on becoming more emotionally intelligent

Emotional intelligence, AKA EQ is more important than IQ in most cases.

Emotional intelligence helps you navigate through life much easier. It helps you build great relationships, get promoted at work, build bigger businesses, deal with challenges more effectively, get past disappointments and hurts more rapidly and the list goes on.

Have you ever noticed that CEO’s of great companies are always Emotionally intelligent? They need to expand the company with clearer rational thinking, make quick decisions, lead a team of leaders, lead a team of followers and make hard choices to hire and fire.

It’s hard work when you think about it from the outside. But developing your emotional intelligence will make all of the above second nature for you. In fact, sometimes emotionally intelligent people don’t realize how emotionally intelligent they are because they live with themselves. It’s who they’ve become. They still have fear, doubt and uncertainty, but they have enough bravery and faith in themselves to lead from the front.

Emotional intelligence is a buildable quality. Based on the science of Neuroplasticity, anyone can change their brains wiring which also includes emotional wiring.

18. Find a way to get rejected and get used to it

This also ties into emotional intelligence. I’ve worked in sales for more than half of my life. Ever since the age of 16, I have been selling.

When I first started, I was nervous, hesitant, fearful and confused. I watched my mentors make sales so easily and they didn’t care when someone said no. I didn’t have this skill yet. I didn’t like the word no.

But I needed to work. So, I pushed myself to do it and started going for the nos.

The more I got rejected, the braver and more confident I became. I didn’t care about getting a no anymore, it became a numbers game. To get more yesses, I had to get more nos.

After some time, I built a sales force 2,500 people and my training system for them ALWAYS included helping them understand the numbers game. I wanted to shift their mindsets and detach themselves from the outcome and not take it personally. It could be timing, and it could be a great clue about what they needed to get better at.

It’s the translation of rejection that has mixed up our society. We take rejection as a denial to our success. We allow fear to translate rejection as a catastrophe. How many times were you told no as a child, but you persisted through until you got what you wanted?

Life has programmed us to fear rejection. If you want to become unstoppable, you need to be ok with rejection, and in fact make it apart of your game plan.

If it’s not people that reject you, it’s going to be the landing page that you’ve tried to build effectively but failed 10 times, until you got it right on the 11th time. Or the software that you’re building that isn’t working out. It could even be the loan that the bank is making difficult to lend you.

I recommend doing a side hustle that requires dealing with people and some type of transaction. This will fast track building a very important pillar into your personal growth, and that is persisting through rejection with the same or even more enthusiasm.

This is where persistence grows. And without persistence, you’ll never get past resistance.

19. Never break your word

One thing I love about the old days and some existing cultures like the Japanese culture is that people held/hold their word as their badge of honour.

If I say something and you have to doubt whether I am going to follow through or not, then I haven’t done a great job at representing my commitment to doing what I say.

Keeping your word will give other people no choice but to respect you.

You will develop influence. Companies will want you. People will trust you. People will love you.

Most importantly, you will love and respect yourself even more.

The benefits are endless.

Decide to only make promises and commitments that you can keep, and watch your life change instantaneously.

20. Make overachieving a habit

I made a commitment years ago that whenever I say that I’m going to make 10 calls, I’ll do 11.

10 push-ups? 11.

Get 10 shots in while playing basketball? 11.

AT LEAST!

This overachieving habit is now practiced by my whole family.

My eldest son refuses to stop at the number given to him. He is always pursuing more.

Why? It’s a psychological trick.

Most people, when committing to 10, only do 5 or less. Great people do 10. World class people do 11+.

Practicing the discipline and habit of always doing a little more than expected becomes etched into your personality and character. It’s attractive, admirable, and you’ll become a leader by example.

The best part is that it will also 10x your income, your happiness, your success and more.

21. Earn yourself a spot in leadership circles

If you follow all the previous steps, you’ll naturally be noticed. This will increase your respect and authority.

Leaders love to network with other leaders. They find value in forming relationships with others that have similar traits. They gain access to more resources and connections when networking with other influential people.

But you need to earn your spot. You need to become the person who deserves the time of successful leaders.

22. Make it a lifestyle

I am all for having relaxation and down time. In fact, you absolutely need it to function at your best.

But here’s the truth. Where ever you go, there you are. In other words, you can’t be part time unstoppable. You need to develop the self-talk that tells you that you are an overcomer, an overachiever, a champion, an important person that’s playing an important role in this life and then need to ACT on it.

We are always going to have our ups and down. Always. Our ups bring us the accolades, our downs build our character, wisdom and resilience.

No matter what, think of yourself as an unstoppable person. Someone who won’t be stopped and can’t be stopped.

Think like this while also having the humility to know that you can fall and hurt yourself.

It’s naive to think that you are invincible.

Just keep yourself talk strong and keep reminding yourself of your value.

23. Be patient and prepare for a long-term game

Be patient. You’re going to mess this up. Sometimes, in a big way.

That’s the whole point of this. We’re going to mess up whether we are unstoppable or not, so all that this mindset is doing is setting you up to get back up quickly after a fall.

Keep adding small wins to your daily life and your long-term “unstoppable muscle” will be built with strength.

24. Discover what you’re really good at and become the best at that

It can take time to identify what your passion and purpose is.

One sign is to find something that you’re good at, and if you absolutely love doing it then that’s a good sign that this is one of your passions. Not everything within our passion will be fun, but we still love doing it so much that we don’t mind doing the rest of the hard and boring stuff.

The next thing you need to do here is become so good at this, that not only YOU think that you’re good, but many others have compliments you about how good you have become.

Read the books. Listen to the audiobooks, do the courses, attend the trainings until you have separated yourself from the bottom 80%.

Continue to close the gap through experience, education and through reviewing your mistakes regularly. Do some deliberate practice to become better at specifically chosen skills.

25. Study leadership. You can’t be unstoppable if you’re not a leader (and you can be a leader)

Leadership is an important quality to move a family, a company and a community in the right direction.

If you remain only a follower, you will always be waiting on someone else’s signal and approval for you to move forward with things.

Learning how to take initiative and leading from the front is important.

John Maxwell famously says “everything rises and falls on leadership”.

This is why you might see a leader that goes from one company to another blossom in that new venture and end up taking that company to new heights. It’s not the company, it’s the leader.

26. Always work off goals and to-do lists

You really can’t achieve much without having clear goals and plans to execute towards your dream life. Make sure you become good in this area, planning long-term and short term and then taking those short-term goals and placing them into your daily to-do list.

You can get more done in 100 days with a to-do list than you could in 1,000 days without a to-do list.

The whole point of this article is to help you become. Have you ever heard the saying “be, do, have”? Well this is what we are trying to do for people.

You need to become the person you need to become in order to have your dreams come true.

Whatever those dreams are, investing in yourself is your best bet. No matter what happens in the world, in the government, in the economy, YOU will always have an edge when you become unstoppable.

A person of high-level skill sets, a growth mindset, integrity, personal power, strong belief system, honour, leadership and a person we look to for inspiration.

All of this can be you my friend.

Take your first steps today and put these lessons into action to experience a new life of abundance. If you already possess much of the above, there’s always a new level of excellence waiting for you. We are never a finished product.

I am cheering you on!
