Let’s face it, many people would love to become unstoppable. The thought of winning and having an edge, being able to bounce back up quickly after a down fall and becoming recognised for your excellent work is admirable.
There’s definitely a “How to Become Unstoppable” formula, but we’re going to focus on WHY you should make it a mission to become unstoppable in this piece. I have lived on both sides of the spectrum. On one side, I was a drug addict and never up to any good, never finishing what I started and feeling like a loser because I just couldn’t figure it out. On the other side, building large organisations and generating business revenue in the millions year after year, public speaking and training over 120,000 people from the stage, and being recognised globally as a winner and a “mover and shaker”. I went from “anything he touches breaks”, to “anything he touches turns to gold”.
Here are 21 reasons that will make the pursuit of becoming unstoppable extremely worth it.
1. The only other alternative is that you will be stoppable:
If you don’t work on becoming an unstoppable force, the only other option is that you will be a stoppable and mediocre person. And how far does that usually take us? Not far. And how many people have accomplished great things from having a mediocre mindset? None.
I wanted to have an amazing family. Run an amazing business. Produce an amazing income. Have an amazing spiritual connection to God. I wanted to have great health and well-being. I didn’t want to just get by and survive. I realised in my early 20’s that the only way you can have all of the above is to craft yourself to become the best person you can be, and THAT was the only way to have it all.
Life is harder when you are “stoppable”, it becomes easier when you develop the mindset and habits of being “unstoppable”.
2. It’s the best mindset you can have:
Carol Dweck, author of “mindset” explains that there are two different mindsets. A growth mindset, and a fixed mindset.
Someone with a growth mindset doesn’t consider failure as fatal. They love to learn and grow, and they understand that achieving anything significant will bring about many failures. Those failures are then studied and transition into experience of what “not to do”. They teach us to build a better framework of what our success formula needs to be. A growth mindset is the kind of thinking that allows you to GROW into the dream that you would love to live out. This is a big piece in the becoming unstoppable formula.
The other mindset is a fixed mindset. Unfortunately, most people have this mindset. This is where you see failure as “fatal”. You see mistakes as proof that you are not good enough. You think that you have limitations and you stay in your comfort zone because you feel like that’s where you need to be to stay safe because pursuing things you’re not good at confirms your “inferiority”.
This is far from the truth. All of the greatest people grew their dreams one failure at a time. The key is to learn from the failure, and then try again and again until you get it right.
You can adopt a growth mindset by changing your belief system. To change your belief system, it requires that you find enough conflicting evidence to disprove your current internal beliefs. Once you allow yourself to be open minded and you study enough people that grew into developing a growth mindset, that will incrementally shift your belief system to “I don’t have to be great at it today, I can learn to become great through the right practice and repetition”.
3. It’s not about ego, it’s about becoming your best self:
When I listen to Muhammad Ali saying “the champ is here”, or Rose Namajunas say “I am the best” along with other well-known successful figures revealing their internal belief system through their spoken words, that’s a big clue.
When you work on becoming unstoppable, it’s not egotistical. In fact, it’s a service to your family, your community, your cause and it allows your internal champion to appear because of the commands you’re giving your brain.
How can you best help your family? How can you best serve your community and your cause? Yes, you guessed it right! By becoming unstoppable. If you are always STOPPED through challenges and obstacles, then you are not very effective.
You can be the most intelligent person on the planet, but if you do not focus your energy on becoming resilient in defeat, then you yourself are the biggest obstacle. Imagine playing on a sports team. Who do you want to play with the most? Who can you rely and depend on the most? The person that doesn’t give up. The person that continues to bounce back. This is NECESSARY.
The other side to this is that you should be humble in success. Unhealthy ego is when you think you are “untouchable”. Everyone can and will be touched. So, stay humble. Being unstoppable means you know you will always get back up quickly and effectively after you are “touched”.
4. You will become financially free (if that’s a part of your goal):
Money is important for resources, safety, comfort and for us to be able to live the way that we choose to live. Becoming financially free is an option, but it’s an option I strongly encourage because it gives you the time to pursue what you truly love, to serve others better and to not be stressed and mentally occupied with things that can be overcome by having multiple abundant income streams.
One of my mentors once said “if you don’t think the money is important for you, make a lot of it and give it away to those who do need it”. Interesting idea. Money is important to live life. As Zig Ziglar says “money isn’t everything, but it’s up there with oxygen”.
When you become unstoppable, you will ALWAYS figure things out. Your persistence, consistency, resilience and resolve will lead you to living the life you choose. It may take time, but you will eventually get there.
Money always follows value and excellence, so become excellent at your chosen niche, add massive value to people and the marketplace and you will attract money into your life.
5. You will attract more opportunities:
When your reputation becomes known as someone who gets things done, doesn’t let things stop them, has a big driving force behind them (imagine a powerful race car engine), people would absolutely want you to be on their team. To have you on their race track. To help them build their projects and their businesses.
You will become very “hirable”. You will never lack opportunity.
In fact, one of the struggles you will have when you “become unstoppable” is you will need to learn how to say “no” much more often. You will have to reject many more opportunities because staying unstoppable requires you to be FOCUSED on your big goals. Distraction is the enemy here.
6. You can be VERY happy and fulfilled:
We all have a natural inborn desire to be respected, competent, needed and accomplished. We would all love to be successful, no matter what success means to you (us).
Part of why people feel unhappy and unfulfilled is because they aren’t respected, competent, needed or accomplished. They aren’t successful. They aren’t pursuing meaningful work. They might feel like they are just existing.
They have self-esteem issues. They dwell in fear. They wish to have a life that they don’t currently live and so they aren’t happy with how things are going, and they aren’t doing anything about it. They may have flashes of happiness, but I’m talking about real lasting internally fulfilled kind of happiness.
Being successful isn’t about money. It’s about living the exact way that you want to live. And when you are not living your dream, or at least working towards your dream, there’s a sense of guilt, a sense of feeling bad about yourself and you will have a lot of negative self-talk.
How you talk to yourself is very important. And it’s been said that over 77% of your self-talk is negative. You’re bound to have that happen when your life isn’t directed by your passions, but rather by the opinions and directions of other influences in your life. Your boss, your friends, your current circumstances and more.
When you’re in control of your path and you become an unstoppable character in your story, you will have a confidence that becomes UNSHAKABLE. You will know for certain that no matter what, you’ve got this. And that kind of confidence brings you more happiness and fulfilment.
7. You will accomplish your dreams:
When you are unstoppable, nothing will stop you from accomplishing your dreams.
You might have to pivot, you might find that your dream isn’t realistic anymore or it’s no longer worth pursuing, but you will always supplement that with a new dream that you will accomplish.
Unstoppable people never stay without a dream. You cannot be a winner without anything to win in.
Chasing your dream and purpose is so exhilarating that you will find joy both on the way there, and at your arrival.
“A person without a dream is a person that’s still asleep.”
8. No matter the problems, you will figure it out:
Unstoppable people never give up. They focus on solutions.
Some people find a problem for every solution. Some people don’t find solutions to their problems. Unstoppable people find a solution to every problem.
They won’t allow problems to stop them. They hire teams of people, they study and learn ways to solve the problem, they meditate or pray to try and find the answer.
They won’t rest until they have direction.
9. You will become respected and recognized as an authority:
When you build a reputation for being unstoppable, soon, the word gets out and people will take you more seriously. You will become an authority in your space. This also develops posture.
People will want to hear from you. People will respect you.
10. You will become more attractive:
We tend to feel sorry for people that just can’t figure things out.
And people we feel sorry for, we don’t usually find very attractive.
One type of attractive is becoming the interesting character amongst a crowd of people. People will want to hear from you, talk to you and get mentoring from you. This will boost your confidence and morale, which makes you even more attractive.
The other type of attractive is when the opposite sex finds you attractive. Ambitious people tend to be very attractive.
This is because we are attracted to people that have a purpose, a goal and a dream. We find them more interesting and we can take them more seriously. It’s also because when you say you’re going to do something, you actually get it done.
That’s attractive.
11. You become more influential:
More people will respect you and find you inspirational, which results in you having more influence on them because you are a leader.
When you develop more influence, you allow yourself to get more things done in life because you now have a following of people that trust you.
This can build a community of people that are aligned and on a mission towards a good cause.
12. You can serve others much better:
When you become unstoppable, you can do more for people.
You’ll be the type of person that gets things done, and if your heart lies in helping and serving others (which it should, this is also required for true happiness), then they can depend on you knowing that you’re an asset to them.
You are a powerful figure in their corner.
13. It’s a great attribute of a leader:
A leader that isn’t unstoppable is not a complete leader.
He or she might be a leader by title, but not a true leader in essence.
People look to leaders for courage, certainty, confidence and guidance. They need leaders that can lead them to victory, not dead ends.
Leaders have moments of fear, worry and doubt but they continue to persist through with faith and vision.
14. You will know your purpose:
Becoming unstoppable usually means you’ve found your purpose. It’s hard to become unstoppable without passion and purpose.
Finding your purpose is a great doorway to becoming unstoppable.
People in life are either chasing pleasure or purpose.
Chasing pleasure never ends up good for anyone.
When you discover your purpose, the pursuit itself will give you pleasure and this results in a more fulfilled life.
15. If you fall, you’ll get back up:
By definition, becoming unstoppable means you can’t be stopped. Even if you fail at something, you will find another way or another opportunity to win.
Having the attributes of an unstoppable person can make you overcome failure so much quicker than someone who doesn’t.
16. You’ll develop a very high self-esteem:
When you develop a reputation with yourself as a finisher and as someone that can do whatever they focus their complete attention on, then you will develop a hop in your step, more assurance in your voice and more comfort being in your own skin. You will love and respect yourself more.
17. You’ll have a strong belief system:
You can’t become unstoppable until you develop conviction through a strong belief system. Believing in yourself is a must when it comes to winning at life. Our self-talk can be our downfall. As Jim Rohn says, stand guard at the door of your mind. You have to put up a fight with the bully within and shut him/her down at every opportunity. Sometimes that negative voice might give us clues to diagnose a problem in our life which can be useful, but dwelling on that voice means you’ve given up your power.
And your power lies in your beliefs. Your self-talk stems from how you see yourself and what you believe true about your own capabilities and circumstances.
We develop beliefs for many reasons including how we were raised, our environments and our experiences. Our belief systems can change if we put in the effort to change them.
18. Haters will motivate you:
One thing I’ve dealt with all my life is having haters.
People hate you when you are focused. People hate you when you are winning.
Unfortunately, it’s inevitable.
It’s not always YOU that they hate. Often, they hate themselves. They hate that you are doing exactly what they would love to be doing. Or they hate that you have the guts to pursue your dreams, and they don’t. It makes them feel bad about themselves.
But that’s none of your business.
When you become unstoppable, this won’t stop you.
This will actually DRIVE you to be more, do more, have more and even quicker than before.
You need haters. In fact, if you don’t have haters I would doubt that you’re doing much in life.
Champions get driven by enemies. It keeps them on their toes more. It eliminates procrastination. It makes us feel like we have to do the big things, quicker and BETTER!
This is a great thing.
Even Michael Jordan wanted enemies. One time he created a fake story in his head that someone from the opposing team said something to challenge him. Because of this, he performed at his best. Years later when asked about this story, he admitted that he made it up in his own mind.
Enemies can really fuel you.
Switch the way you view enemies and make it work to your advantage.
19. You become very smart:
When you become unstoppable, it doesn’t mean that you won’t face obstacles and setbacks. In fact, you actually face more.
But because you have a growth mindset, you’re willing to pivot and learn much faster than the majority of people. This develops a mental framework of how to do things, what to do and when to do them which ultimately leads you to becoming an expert.
You’re willing to do whatever it takes. You read the books, do the courses, pursue projects in new ways and eventually win. All of this will make you very smart and creative. And becoming smart and creative will be another edge you’ll have.
A good method to use here is the Plan, Do, Review system. Plan some goals, execute on those goals and then review them weekly. Your revision will help you point out what worked and what didn’t work so that you can plan and execute better the next time you do this whole process.
20. You’ll eliminate much procrastination:
Imagine you eliminated procrastination, or at least most of it!
The amount of work you could get done in 30 days, many people could only dream of doing in a year.
You’ll have systems, rituals and habits that empower you to be efficient, effective and get into action.
21. You become too good to fail
I don’t know what your goals are, but I can assure you that they will be achieved when you develop an unstoppable mindset.
No matter the obstacles, challenges and negativity we experience, our hunger, focus, determination and drive will lead us towards the win.
22. It becomes easier. It becomes who you are.
As you can understand by now, becoming unstoppable isn’t an option if you want to live your best life. And YOU can be that person. With the latest research on Neuroplasticity proving that you can recreate your brain with deliberate practice and repetition, there’s no longer doubt that you can change if you make it a must for yourself.
When you work on developing all these skills and traits, remember it will be hard UNTIL it becomes easy. As you program your subconscious mind, you are using LESS cognitive energy to maintain this level of excellence. It becomes a part of you. YOU will become the success. Even if you lost everything, you can get it all back because of who you have become.
So, what’s stopping you? Here’s a challenge. Find enough reasons to become unstoppable. Write down what your life would be like if you became this unstoppable character. How would that influence your partner, spouse, children, family, community and the world if you were to become that person.
What if you had something inside of you that could change countless lives?
My encouragement to you is that you do something every day towards becoming unstoppable. It’s a journey, but once you DECIDE to pursue this journey then the world will start to present more opportunities to you that will help you with your goals.
Go out there and Become UNSTOPPABLE, my friend. I’m cheering you on!
